Re: Equifax Data Breach
Dear Valued Customers,
On July 29th of this year it became known to Equifax credit reporting bureau that criminals had exploited vulnerabilities in their website to gain unlawful access to certain consumer’s private information. This information could have included birthdates, telephone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, and in some instances driver’s license numbers. Equifax is one of the nation’s largest credit reporting bureaus so the number of those impacted is still unknown but it is estimated to be 149 million individuals.
It is important to know that under no circumstances was Farmers State Bank’s security breached. We handle all of our customer’s private information with extreme care and diligence. Out of concern for our customers we feel that it is necessary to inform you when your personal information could be at risk of exposure, and this is a reality due to the Equifax breach.
Farmers State Bank is urging all of our customers to visit: www.equifaxsecurity2017.com where you can immediately check to see if your private information may have been exposed. Equifax is offering to pay for a credit monitoring service for all consumers for one year. We suggest that all of our customers take advantage of this. For more information you may also call Equifax at 866-447-7559 regarding this issue.
Thanks for your continued trust in Farmers State Bank! We will continue to release information involving this issue as it becomes known to us.
