Farmers State Bank is here to guide and assist you in meeting your financial goals. We are Laurens County’s Hometown Bank. What makes Farmers State Bank different from other community banks? It’s our people.
Farmers State Bank has been diligently serving Laurens County for over 100 years. The Cadwell Banking Company was granted a charter January 5, 1910. Mr. L.B. Holt served as the bank’s President from 1910 to 1916 and was followed by H.R. Bedingfield who served in the role from 1916 to 1928.
Following “The Great Depression” in 1929 the bank became known as the Graham, Smith and Bedingfield Bank for a few years before the name was changed to Farmers Clearing Bank. L.K. Smith served as Chairman of the Board, W.A. Bedingfield was named President of the bank. The bank occupied the same building in Cadwell from 1929 to 1970.
The name of the bank was changed in 1972 to Farmers State Bank. In June of 1981 Farmers Bank Shares, Inc. was purchased by W.E. Dowling, Chairman of the Board and Ed Morris, President. Ed Morris served as President from 1980 to January 2007 and now serves as Bank Chairman.
The main office of Famers State Bank was opened in 1984 in Dublin, Georgia. Farmers State Bank serves the Laurens County community at three locations.
